About the Artist
I work primarily with ink on paper and use finely placed marks to build up tonal and spatial depth. This layered, ruminative practice imbues the pictures with a sense of time captured or trapped as if under glass. I am interested in those elements in nature that are permanent and those that are temporary and my work is striving, picture by picture, to capture that elusive relationship.
About the Artwork
The location is on the coastal path at Helston in Cornwall. I chose an initial compositional set up but then took a step back to widen the picture and welcome in the light from the left. This gives the final picture the sense of peripheral movement and depth.
